Steelstream

UX and Product Design

About the Project

This project started with a major steel supplier aiming to modernize its outdated ordering process. Their B2B transactions relied heavily on manual calls and emails, leading to frequent errors, slow response times, and missed opportunities. The challenge was to replace this fragmented system with a centralized digital platform that could serve buyers, local retailers, and the supplier’s internal teams — all within a single, scalable ecosystem.

Our role was to understand the pain points across the supply chain and design a platform that would simplify operations, increase speed, and provide full visibility to all parties involved.

Result

We delivered a dual-sided B2B platform with tailored experiences for buyers, retailers, and the central supplier. Buyers could now browse and order products in real time based on technical specs and live inventory. Retailers could manage orders and update stock with ease, while the supplier gained a central dashboard to monitor demand, allocate resources, and generate accurate forecasts. As a result, order response times dropped from days to under an hour, errors were reduced by 80%, and support calls were nearly eliminated. Within three months of launch, order completion rates jumped from 60% to 90%.

The platform laid a strong digital foundation, enabling the client to scale without increasing operational overhead and helping them respond more effectively to market changes.
